Christmas Focus

The world has turned the season into one of materialism.   We go into debt so that we can show our love to (or impress!) our friends and family.    In many ways, Christmas (gifts, decorations, cooking, eating) has become something it was never meant to be.  Likely, by the time January hits, we will not remember who gave us some of the gifts, have to throw away some decorations, and need to shed a few pounds from overeating.   We are easily drawn into the things of the world.  All these things will pass away.  Whoever does the will of the Lord will abide forever.  I John 2:17     May we keep our focus on Christ.  May HE reign in us as we live out HIS purposes during a season that should be all about JESUS!

Electric Blower

I got Larry and Brent & Rebecca an electric blower for Christmas - it came in New Year's Eve (Sears).    Larry thinks I'll use it here in the carport and porch but I told him I think my broom would work okay.    He really wanted it also for when we go camping to blow off the pad.

New Commercial Kitchen Aid Mixer

We went to the mall in Meridian the day after Christmas and I got this KitchenAid commercial mixer.   I can't believe I've never had one before.... of course "Betty Crocker" has really gotten into cooking over the last couple of years.   I was so excited about how good it works and put the flour in and turned it on medium speed.   Needless to say, I learned real quick you start out on SLOW speed!    It is so much fun to watch this work.    You can turn it on - turn around and wash up some dishes and then it will be all mixed up!    SO EASY AND FUN!

Christmas Memories

Larry was off on Thursday and Friday, December 23rd & 24th, 2010.
On Thursday, we spent the day shopping.   We went to Peebles, Sears & Freds and ate lunch at Penn's.    Larry made a trip to Walmart and to Lowe's first thing that morning.    We had a fun day!    On Friday, Larry and Brent went to Dane's and put out some corn and I went grocery shopping on Christmas Eve with the monthly shopping.   We had some Taco Soup for supper even though it had warmed up during the day.    It was a picture perfect day!     That night we went to the Christmas Eve service at Beacon Street at 6:00 p.m.     Horace, Yvette, Penny, Tim & Penelope also came.    Then Larry and I came home and opened presents.     At supper we gave Mother and Daddy their present - some money and tin of popcorn - also ordered them a Farmer's Almanac that didn't arrive before Christmas.
Larry and I got a lot of presents -most we had already bought.
Larry got lots of tools, a garden flag with deer on it and a horse shadow box from Hobby Lobby that he has wanted for several years.    He also got a yellow/blue striped shirt and a leather brown coat from Belk's.    I got him a leaf blower that arrived after Christmas.
I got some candles, bath set from Bath and Body, new cake pan and measuring cup, and three small snowmen.     Also I had ordered me a kindle for Christmas.
We had a great Christmas.
Christmas Day we spent the day at Granny's.
Garden flag I got Larry for Christmas - I was going to take pictures of our presents - but never got around to it!!!   2010

Christmas Night

Brent & Rebecca came over Christmas night and we opened presents.    They gave me a beautiful silver cross necklace.    Larry got a flashlight and a maroon "snuggie".    We gave Rebecca a wax warmer and some warmer melt and $75.    Brent got a flashlight package (that he can share with Rebecca) and a knife sharpener and $75.    They also got an electric leaf blower that came in after Christmas.  Brent and Molly had to play before they left.    Bailey was at his Dad's so we sent his present later.    He also got a package of flashlights, a wood kit, some small items and $40.

Christmas Morning.....and SNOW!!!!

Larry cooked up some ham (that we got from Weyerhaeuser) and we had bisquits for Christmas morning breakfast.    About 30 minutes before we went to Granny's, I looked out and it was snowing like crazy.     It snowed on and off all day, all night and the day after Christmas.
